Safran Landing Systems (SLS) is offering the opportunity to lead the local site Configuration Management (CM) activities as part of a global team implementing and supporting CM across the whole of SLS. Configuration Management activities are found within all the functions: Engineering (Design & Analysis, Systems, Systems Architecture, Test), Programs, Production and Customer Services.

This position is within the transverse Engineering team under the responsibility of Grant Minnes, VP Airworthiness and Configuration Management. The successful candidate will use their CM expertise primarily to support the implementation of CM best practices in the Engineering domain, but they will also be the focal for interactions with other functions. This role is based in Toronto and reports to the Global Configuration Management team.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead the implementation of CM processes at both the local and global level.

• Provide expert advice to the engineering team and other functions.

• Oversee the training, promotion and oversight of the CM processes at the site level.

• Work with the transverse CM engineering teams to define and manage the global CM process implementation plan.

• Ensure new processes for SLS are consistent with OneSafran and considers all our Customers.

• Coordinate CM process problems fixing and manage the communication internally.

• Work with the PLM support network to ensure ongoing support of PLM4.0 and subsequent evolutions of the tool

Detailed responsibilities include:

• Prepare and maintain Configuration Management processes documents (including CM Plans)

• Provide independent advice on CM process issues.

• Support and contribute to the SLS Configuration Management Expert network.

• Maintain internal Configuration Management processes.

• Monitor effectiveness of CM processes (e.g. corrective actions, mitigation actions, lessons learnt).

• Provide CM expertise and support to Toronto personnel, especially during internal and external audits.

• Provide periodic reports on Configuration Management processes deployment and performance.

• Plan and facilitate staff Configuration Management process training.

• Monitor state of the art in the industry for Configuration management processes.

• Ensure Configuration Management process is clear and requirements driven into new PLM project.

• Work closely with the global CM team to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.

Job Requirements

Technical skills:

• Sound knowledge configuration management operations, procedures and activities.

• An understanding of planning activity and risk management principles.

• Broad Configuration Management technical knowledge.

• An understanding of planning activity and risk management principles.

Communication and other skills:

• Ability to promote Configuration Management within the organisation.

• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skill, with the ability to liaise at all levels inside and outside the company with a variety of individuals and organisational representatives, including those from different cultural backgrounds.

• Leadership abilities.

• Analytical abilities.

Educational skills and experience

• Facility with document and data management system(s) such as TeamCentre PDM/PLM.

• A minimum of 5 years experience in Configuration Management.

• Experience in aviation fields a definite asset.

• Computer literacy.
