    Title: Registered Nurse ICU

    Job Summary:

    Vighter LLC is recruiting Registered Nurses to perform in ICU role at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System in Oklahoma City, OK. The RN assigned to these areas will provide direct and indirect nursing care, by contributing to the patient’s assessment, determining priorities, identifying nursing measures and therapeutic objectives, and evaluating outcomes. The position requires independent judgment and nursing actions, flexibility, organizational skills, and the ability to utilize an interdisciplinary approach in the provision of nursing care.

    Reports to VA Nurse Manager; Evenings/Nights/Holidays/Weekends - Charge Nurse or Nursing Supervisor

    Principle Accountabilities:

  • Perform critical care nursing to Intensive Care Unit patients.

  • Performs scrub and circuiting duties in the ED and OR.

  • Obtain patient history and pertinent family history.

  • Assess and plan appropriate nursing care. Document plan of care and care given in patient's medical record.

  • Verify transcription of physician's orders and document inpatient medical record. Communicate pertinent patient data to charge nurse and/or physician as appropriate.

  • Re-assess patient's condition and raise plans of care based on identified nursing problem.

  • Administer medications and intravenous (IV) therapies.

  • Possess knowledge of actions and usual dosages of most used emergency drugs and their location on crash cart.

  • Assess and document patient response to medication that have been administered.

  • Be able to interpret cardiac rhythms and their implications.

  • Reorganize and initiate appropriate measure sin emergencies/therapies and surgical/diagnostic procedures that shall be accomplished.

  • Instruct patient/family regarding prescribed medications/therapies and surgical/diagnostic procedures that shall be accomplished.

  • Assess patient/family knowledge level, implement plan of instructions and record patient/family demonstrated level of understanding.

  • Operate defibrillator EKG machines and cardiac monitor and other emergency technical equipment. Participate in discharge planning, be able to initiate life saving measures in the absence of physicians.

  • Assure content and correctness of a prepared report and sign the document to validate its content.

  • Must maintain a neat personal appearance and maintain professional decorum.

  • Respect patient's rights. Intake and output are assessed every shift.

  • Reviews all laboratory data, and electronic medical records.

  • Performs central line and ventilator care in compliance with policy.

  • Performs skin assessments and initiates measures to prevent Hospital Acquired Pressure Ulcers.

    Requirements:

  • RN License in any State

  • BLS, CPR and ACLS - AHA

  • TB

  • Tetanus Toxoid

  • Immunity to Rubeola, Rubella Varicella

  • Tdap

  • Current Hepatitis B Vaccination and Hep C titer

  • COVID-19 Vaccinated

    Experience:

  • 1 Year direct patient care experience within the last 3 years- VAMC experience preferred.

  • Experience in ICU, Medical/Surgical Units, Telemetry and Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency Room.

    Other Qualifications:

  • Shall be a United States Citizen

  • Shall not have been convicted of a felony

  • Shall be able to read, write, and speak English

  • Shall be able to operate a personal computer utilizing Microsoft applications, such as Explorer, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. so as to efficiently create and/or utilize an Electronic Medical Record

    Physical Requirements :

  • Must be able to stand or sit for more than 8 hours per day

  • Must be willing to work overtime if necessary

  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet

  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders

  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print

  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear

  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation

  • Must undergo urine drug testing
