Bookkeeper (Full Charge)/Accountant – Full Time

Pay Range: $19 - $22/hour

Ashley Management Corporation, a local growing Property Management Company is seeking a direct hire Full Charge Bookkeeper. Responsibilities include a strong knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger entries, analysis of financials, month end preparation, processing and review of resident activity, general office duties/support and ad hoc projects as needed.

A minimum of 2 years bookkeeping/accounting experience required. Looking for a candidate that is detail oriented, able to multi-task, possesses excellent communication, time management and organizational skills and works well in a team environment. Strong computer skills necessary and experience with accounting software programs. Experience with Yardi software and Accounting degree is a plus.

Full Job Description:

Ensure system data integrity by checking lease information that is entered into the property management software system -vs- actual signed lease documents

Billing and invoicing tenants

Prepare late notices and mail directly to tenant

Process NSF checks

Process approved invoices and scheduled expenses through Accounts Payable

Accounts receivable – process payments received from tenants to tenant account record

Update and maintain General Ledger, including manual journal entries required

Financial Reporting – prepare monthly and year-end financial statements for assigned properties

Prepare bank deposits and security deposits as required

Maintain customer service standards by responding to tenants, vendors, or other staff members timely and accurately (verbal or written)

Prepare paperwork for turnover / evictions to be sent to attorneys

Verify property data entry for new leases.

Perform data entry for key data needed for reporting and tracking

Work closely with site staff to ensure all lease paperwork/data, invoices and other items are received timely

Filing – paid bills, current tenant information, former tenant files, bills due to be paid, etc.

Prepare sales tax returns

Coordinate reporting required for Bank Reconciliation

Other duties as necessary or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this position successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education & Experience (minimum required to enter the position): A minimum of a high school education is required. Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping a plus.

Required Skills or Knowledge: This position requires the ability to communicate effectively and present a positive, professional image. In addition the position requires the following:

· Competent communication skills (both oral and written) and highly organized. Adaptive – multitasking as necessary.

· Strong time management skills, strong initiative, self starter and productive – able to meet deadlines and can work under pressure as necessary.

· Accounting fundamentals, including but not limited to maintenance of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet and cash flow).

· Proficiency in MS Word, Excel. Property management software experience a plus.

· Integrity, confidentiality and strong customer service orientation.

· Notary public appointment a plus.
