Cat Rental & Used (R&U) is a part of the Construction Industries (CI) segment. A primary role of R&U is to support and enhance Caterpillar’s dealer network, which is a competitive strength and the critical way in which we serve our customers. R&U is hiring a Senior Marketing & Sales Operations Representative to support our Rental Excellence Program .

Role Summary: As a Rental Excellence Program (REP) Consultant, you will be responsible for assisting dealerships in achieving rental operational excellence. The REP Consultant will work to develop a reputation as a subject matter expert in process improvement methodologies that improve dealer-rental operations profitability. This individual will provide REP assessments on a quarterly basis and Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIW’s) in support of improved rental revenue growth, operational efficiency, and customer experience.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct detailed REP assessments and RIW’s for dealer rental operations (coverage, forecasting, inventory management, rental fleet utilization, and orders and claims processing, etc.) with special emphasis on streamlining processes and improving dealer rental business profitability.

  • Counsel dealers on methods to improve rental productivity measures. Evaluate individual dealer performance and develops appropriate recommendations to optimize dealer participation in the rental opportunity for the assigned service territory.

  • Evaluate the training needs of dealer rental operations staff and leverage existing materials and resources to satisfy those training requirements. Includes the use of Industry and Product Specialists for CAT and Allied equipment.

  • Utilize the established rental operational and financial benchmarks to measure the health of the dealer’s rental business.

  • Counsel dealers on rental operations information systems including advantages, and implementation plans.

  • Leverage Caterpillar resources to counsel dealers on operational process improvement opportunities that will contribute to achieving a superior level of customer satisfaction and improved profitability in rental operations.

  • Improved dealer rental fleet integrity and growth based on profitability.

  • Counsel dealers on an optimal rental rollout strategy, maximizing dealer profitability.

  • Support communication of pay-for-performance programs for assigned territory.

  • Administration of REP assessment reporting for dealer and Caterpillar personnel for assigned territory.

  • Counsel dealers on the optimal and profitable usage of the CAT Certified Used program.

  • Other duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time-to-time.

Advises others in analyzing and synthesizing relevant data and assessing alternatives.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Effective Communicator: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Knowledge of rental operations and rental industry best practices.

  • Experience working with or at an equipment dealer.

  • Prior roles held in marketing operations or sales support.

  • Demonstrated ability to work on increasingly more complex assignments and provide direction to less experienced team members on project assignments.

Additional Information:

  • Work locations: This role can be assigned to one of three Caterpillar offices: Peoria, IL; Dallas, TX or Cary, NC.

  • Caterpillar embraces flexibility through a hybrid work model, requiring onsite work 3 days per week.

  • Domestic relocation assistance is available.

  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time is required, mainly within North and South America.
